We need to study each plant before we decide to grow them; each plant behaves differently and needs different methods of maintenance. While some plants do not need much sunlight, some others need good sunlight to grow. Some plants need shade and certain plants need very less water. It’s important that we understand these, before we zero in on the plants. Often, people complain that once they buy a beautiful plant and take it home, it withers away —it’s because they are not aware of the elements needed for the plant to grow and sustain in a healthy way.”

Why miniature gardens, terrarium are trending big indoor gardening ?

Miniatures have their own perks and disadvantages. We’re told that miniature plants are dwarf plants but not shunned down like bonsai. They’re easy and quick to grow indoors and outdoors with minimal maintenance. However, scaling is an important technique in miniatures.  The best advice would be to use aura water or keep chlorinated water in sunlight for the chlorine content in water to evaporate and then use,” he suggests.Basic knowledge about plants and gardening helps handle daily problems. The doctor is open to explaining different plants to his clients and provide gardening solutions. He interacts with his customers and also helps them set up a garden of their own.

With diminishing open spaces in most cities, having a garden is a luxury that only few can afford. While terrace gardening is picking up, terrariums are a way of bringing the garden indoors. It’s also fuss free. Dr. Gohulabalan who runs Sorrel Gardens along with his wife Padmini, says, “These plants don’t need too much care. You don’t have to meticulously water them — once in two weeks is sufficient or a few drops every three to four days — nor do you have to place them under direct sunlight. ” The couple says that youngsters seem particularly excited about this concept and want different varieties of ornamental plants.
